There are four levels of personalization in outbound:

Level 1: Template personalization
“Hi {first_name}, I saw {company} is growing. We help companies like yours…” Merge fields + templates. Buyers recognize this as automated.
Level 2: Research-based personalization
A human SDR researches the prospect, finds a relevant detail, and writes a custom opening. Effective but does not scale beyond 20-30 messages per day per rep.
Level 3: Context-based personalization
AI reads the buyer’s actual social post, understands what they are discussing, and generates a response that engages with their specific situation. This is not template-based. Each message is unique because it is grounded in unique buyer behavior.
How context-based personalization works
When a buyer posts “we are evaluating project management tools, currently using Asana but it is not scaling with our team,” Level 3 personalization looks like:
“The scaling challenge with Asana usually shows up around 50+ users when cross-team visibility breaks down. What is the specific bottleneck you are hitting?”
This message demonstrates understanding of the buyer’s situation. It adds insight rather than just reflecting data back. And it invites a genuine conversation.
